Holding down the bottom

I'm nothing fancy as a bass player, even though it is the favorite instrument I play, and I play several...

But my style is to "hold down the bottom." And lock in with the drums. Nothing to write home about, the women don't throw their panties (anymore).

Just finished a project and posted it on my site,

www.reverbnation.com/rockinrobby

It's a Zac Brown cover, Colder Weather (at the top). Again, the bass is nothing to write home about, but I focus on tone, locking in w/the drums, and holding down the bottom.

I know many of you are very talented solo artists (like tearing up the bass). Interested in your thoughts. On Colder Weather and most of my stuff I'm doing everything, so the bass is "a piece" albeit a very important piece. ;-) That's my Warwick Fretless Thumb Bass, I love that guitar.

Sounds good to me:
What bass are you using? What rig do you use live?
How did it get recorded?

That's my Warwick Fretless Thumb Bass (Zebra wood). I run it through the LA-610 direct, and then in to the Fireface and in to the PC. Squeeze it a little on the way in, then I use a plug on it to squeeze it a bit more, and send it down the pipe (channel tools, down the middle, with the kick and vocals) everything else goes to a wide bus and then the mains.

I haven't played live for 40 years :) Ahhh, miss those panties. I may still get them today? But they'd probably not be of a size I was interested in...

You can tell it was mixed by the bass player, LOL!

I recorded it here at Smileadon Studios (AKA, my livingroom) But I have some pretty good Shizite...
