how do you people manage to pick without pickup covers?

maybe i’m just a lazy person but seriously, i could just not get down with hand hovering with the pick on the front pickup. it just hurt after a while and eventually my hand felt inclined to put itself down somewhere. so then entered pickup covers (yes, THOSE pick up covers) and now suddenly picking is a breeze. how do some of you manage to pick without pickup covers?? you know, when you also don’t want a sound that sounds like a thin little burp mixed with string noise (aka you want to go somewhere past just the bridge area).

btw, pickup covers are also just awesome looking too. i’m finally proud of how my bass looks on me, because those pickup covers make it look awesome!!! they don’t restrict my playing like other people experience.

I picked up a pic over the winter and found I like the sound. And with my arthritis in my hands getting worse I found it to be less stressful on the hands and I like the sound.

I just kind of anchor my forearm on the body of my Musicmasters and the hand floats over the strings. Never thought about exactly how I do it before, it just works.
