Hi Patrick

what methodology do you follow when teaching? Eg for a beginner / intermediate, do you give them a piece to learn and then get them to play it and correct mistakes / suggest improvements? Do you wait until they nail it before moving on? Or do you concentrate more on intonation, bowing, timing, expression at first? and move through new pieces in the process?

Thanks

Hi Andy,
This is too broad a question to answer on a public forum. My teaching style is holistic...I consider many aspects of the students character as well as his or her present abilities. Each individual is different in shape and size so that must be considered, and every individual has a different shaped and sized bass. Beginners and intermediate students generally get special attention to form and technique, whilst advanced and professionals get coaching on music interpretation and efficiency of movement.
So, your broad question receives a broad answer.

Hope this helps...we can continue the conversation if you can be more specific in your line of questioning.
Ciao!
