years ago i ordered from GC online and they were as fast as anyone else to ship. sweetwater and AMS usually ship the day after the order if the item is in stock, as does amazon and bhphoto, walmart and most ebay stores.

my son ordered me something from GC online on tuesday. as of yesterday, it hadn't shipped - i called to make sure they still had it in stock, and they say they do, but while they said there was no issue, it was just sitting there. and last night they sent a tracking number, but as of now according to UPS, they have neither shipped the item nor submitted the item's info to the UPS system. it just says "UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request."

i know it hasn't been that long, but it's rare that a store or person sends a tracking number that doesn't at least show UPS has the data within a couple hours, and these days no store i've ordered from would have shipped later than yesterday (thursday) for a paid order.

so i'm wondering how long it takes GC these days to ship you new stuff - i'm not asking about used, although anecdotes are welcome, but individual stores can take longer than the warehouse. well, they used to... and i won't say what it is yet, but i REAALLLY want it.

alas, since it's now after 5 pm where the warehouse is (according to the GC rep i asked last night, it's in kansas city MO), i guess i can stop checking the tracking number every 5 minutes :D

so, please share your GC shipping experiences, particularly how long before they shipped but other stories (like the guy on another thread who recently had them ship to the wrong store) are welcome.

I ordered a used bass Tuesday evening, got a tracking number today (Friday) late afternoon. Just the intent to ship notice, Ups doesn’t actually have it yet.

Depends on the store. Some are better than others.

i, too, have found it depends on the store, but this time my order isn't coming from a store - it's coming from the GC warehouse.

It depends on the store. Once it took a week to get a pre-owned item shipped & only then because I was calling them daily to ask about it, a BIG store in Vegas.
24 hours ago I ordered a pre-owned LTD MH-1000NT with Duncan humbuckers, and it was shipped this afternoon.

Wow, it's light, too!

RE: Ordering a new item - I have no experience with that, because I almost always buy used & new accessories I buy from MF, & yes I know it's the same company.
I do know that MF ships FAST!
before you can change your mind, LOL!

well, UPS finally says the shipping label has been created. that's a step, but i guess i won't be seeing my item for a week... sweetwater and AMS would have had it here today, but they didn't have it in stock. i hate waiting!!! :D

Oh, I almost forgot, they entered the order under the wrong person, so I never got the eMail confirmation. I'll probably have one helluva time proving the item belongs to me at the nearest GC, where I had it shipped.
I decided not to sit around here all day waiting for the UPS guy to deliver & I have a cheaper LTD here that I just bought which I'm going to return on the same trip.

not to mention the little amp that I'm taking back :wideyed:
They're probably going to black-ball me when it's all over.

I ordered a j bass and case through my local GC so my friend working there could make a little off the sale. It was a discontinued bass and was the last one in GC inventory so it all came from a west coast warehouse (I’m out east) and only took 2 days from placing the order until they called and told me my order was ready to be picked up. About a year later i ordered a P bass, on line this time, shipped to the same local store and it took 3 days before the bass left the same west coast warehouse but still only took a couple days to hit the store once it left the warehouse. I guess it just depends on how backlogged a particular warehouse shipping department is at any given time

I bought a Jazz bass from GC in San Francisco. I don’t recall having any problem with shipping but before I bought it, I sent several email inquiries that went unanswered.

They’re not a model organization. At least not in a positive professional way.
