Hello -

Back in the day I read an article "how to buy a used ford truck".

Told you things to look for.

Tomorrow I'm checking out a Genz Benz 6.2 (with 12" GB cabinet!).

What should I look for? Does the frame rust out on these, too?

Is a P better than a J-bass for testing? (less hum)

Thanks again to everyone for their input.
My apologies if this has been covered in general terms somewhere. Didn't find anything.

1. Visual examination - Look for signs of damage, abuse. Rust would be rare on this late-model amp, but beware if it's there.
2. Use a bass that you are very familiar with its inherent tone as a base line.
3. Set all tone controls to 12 o'clock, disengage all filter buttons.
3. Plug in and adjust the gain and then the volume to your liking.
4. Play and adjust each control individually so that you become familiar with its influence on the tone.
5. Enjoy! I own the amp (and wish I had a pair of those 12" cabs) and recommend it highly.
