How to sell on classifieds with a new account?

So, I just signed up here because my brother has a historical electric bass he wants to sell.

So I've looked around and found this forum, and I thought I could list the bass in the "classified" sections, but apparently I don't have the necessary privilege for listing anything there.

What can I do to have these privileges?

You'll need to become a supporting member to list items in the Classifieds.

Sign up as a supporting member then you can post in the classifieds...i think maybe it something like $3.00 a month or $35.00 year

Yes, a paid membership will give you the ability to post a for sale ad.

However , the US (or talkbass for the matter ) might not be the best market for your instrument.

List it on Reverb, including the story, details and excellent detailed photos showing everything of interest, any blemishes etc and the weight. Post your ebay username and encourage people to look at it including your feedback and contact you through it to confirm who you are - I assume Reverb will allow this.

This may give people the confidence to deal with you and feel you're reliable, but some 'Muricans are reticent to deal with people outside the US no matter what.

One complication is if it is made of Brazilian rosewood, you may not be able to import it easily into the United States. Coming from Brazil, Customs will very likely inspect it for rosewood. The other obvious complication is the limited name recognition of the musician or luthier in the US.

As others have stated, you need to be a supporting member to sell on TalkBass.

However, the classifieds are for personally owned instruments. So you cannot sell an item for anyone else. Your brother would have to create an account and become a supporting member.
