How would this effect sound on bass?

Yes im a bad boy, actually starting to explore guitar effects to see if they work well on bass. well the guitar effect im looking at right now is the Dunlop HT-1 Talk box. now, i had always dreamed of owning a talk box but i thought it might be risky to play it hooked through a bass setup to the pa. there isnt any available around here so i cant try it out for myself except for ordering it online. does anyone own this? what kinda sounds can you get out of it?

The first thing to know about these things is that you need a PA to use them!

It's basically a little bitty amp and a small crappy speaker (the crappier the better) in a metal box. You plug your bass into the box. The box has a rubber tube that you either tape to a mic stand or clamp in your teeth. The sound from the little speaker comes out the end of the tube and into your mouth where you shape it by forming vowels with your mouth. Essentially an electric vocal cord replacement. So the only way anyone hears anything is if you get your face in front of a mic.

I doubt you are gonna play bass lines with this thing. It's really only for a solo effect. But as that, I think it could be pretty cool.

Let us know if you get one and how it goes! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone using one with a bass.

I've heard a few things like this and I don't think they would work with bass. They are basically taking the higher parts of the audio spectrum - like the sibillants in speech - and bass just doesn't work in this range. Fine for treble-boosted lead guitar, but not bass.
