I bassed so hard, I literally slapped the coils out of my pickup.

I had a gig with my band in Little Rock last night, and got a little crazy with the slapping. To clarify, my "slapping" technique is probably terrible; I just hold a power chord and whack all the strings with my hand. Anyway, this happened:

It didn't happen until halfway through the last song in our set, so that's nice. I'm going to try to put the pickup back together, but if I can't, it wasn't a very expensive one anyway.

Got it fixed yesterday without replacing any parts. I used double-sided tape to hold the covers on the coils, and I guess time will tell if that is strong enough. A second problem was that when I did some soldering when initially installing the pickup, I had apparently melted some of the insulation on one of the wires. This was fine until the Slappening jostled things around, causing the upper coil to ground itself out. A little snipping, soldering, and heat-shrinking, and that problem was fixed too.
