TLDR:
If you have an L2000, at least mod it to change the mode switch to Series-Split-Parallel.
The whole spiel:
I've had my L2000 a month or so and really been enjoying. Bought it used and It does not have stock switching (which is one of the reasons I bought it). I finally sat down today to figure out exactly what the switching is doing.
The knobs are:
Volume: modded to be a push-pull for OMG mode, which is engaged when the switch is in the DOWN position. In OMG mode, the neck side coil is full on and the bridge side coil is bassy
Treble
Bass
The switches are:
Pickup Selector: Stock
3-Way Series-Split-Parallel Switch: The split is to the inner coils (the bridge side coil of the neck pickup, the neck side coil of the bridge pickup)
3-Way Preamp Switch: Stock
Measurements and some observations about the different switching options are below:
So, as it turns out I spend the vast majority of my time in OMG series mode, which I think I have dialed in to basically emulate a 2-split P Precision. I think all the pickup selections sound great. Same goes for non-OMG split mode.
This makes me think I probably I wouldn't like a stock L2000 very much?
Anyway, I'm not sure how easy the OMG switch is to add, but I understand the K-switch (adding the split option) is pretty easy? If so, I'd definitely say it's worth adding.

Up | Neck | Series | Super thick | 9.61 |
Up | Both | Series | 4.89 | |
Up | Bridge | Series | 9.55 | |

Up | Both | Split | Bright, lively | 2.46 |
Up | Bridge | Split | Bright, lively | 4.87 |
Up | Neck | Parallel | 2.48 | |
Up | Both | Parallel | 1.25 | |

Down (OMG) | Neck | Series | Very reminiscent of a P bass with the right EQ settings | 9.61 |
Down (OMG) | Both | Series | 4.89
Down (OMG) | Bridge | Series | 9.56
Down (OMG) | Neck | Split | Slightly muffled compared to non-OMG split | 4.87 |
Down (OMG) | Both | Split | Slightly muffled compared to non-OMG split | 2.46 |
Down (OMG) | Bridge | Split | 4.87
Down (OMG) | Neck | Parallel | This sounds exactly the same as with the volume pulled up | 2.48 |
Down (OMG) | Both | Parallel | This sounds exactly the same as with the volume pulled up | 1.25 |
Down (OMG) | Bridge | Parallel | This sounds exactly the same as with the volume pulled up | 2.47 |
