I have an old no-name bass from years ago with some lifting fret dot inlay "covers".

The dot inlays themselves are 100% fine and still completely tight -- it's the plastic (it looks like) clear covers that are on them that are lifting up on a few. What would you say is the best way to fix this? I'm pretty good with this kind of thing and would like to do it myself if possible.

Try wicking a little thin CA (superglue) under the covers; don't use the gel. Do you have a maple fret board? Is it the finish coming off the dots?
