Hello everyone,
I transcribed a song written by the great Italian bass player Dario Deidda, performed and recorded with Kurt Rosenwinkel. I want to play this song with a group of friends but I am don't know the names of all the chords and a complete sheet would be a great help.

These are bars 4 and 8 of the part A. The same chord appears in both bars. Then there are also 2 chords in bar 4 of the part B.

Here's the recording in question:

Hello everyone,
I transcribed a song written by the great Italian bass player Dario Deidda, performed and recorded with Kurt Rosenwinkel. I want to play this song with a group of friends but I am don't know the names of all the chords and a complete sheet would be a great help.

These are bars 4 and 8 of the part A. The same chord appears in both bars. Then there are also 2 chords in bar 4 of the part B.

Here's the recording in question:

It is mostly nonfunctional harmony, so it doesn't make sense to analyze it relative to a key center.

Just take the chords on a change-by-change basis and try to find melodies that flow through them. (Looking for common tones can help)

Since there's no underlying pad of chords beneath the arpeggiated melody, I'd go to the piano, plunk out those notes with the sustain pedal bar by bar, and find the scales and shapes that sound "right" to me.

For the chord in part A I think A7/F or C#dim/F would fit. You can also name it Fmaj9#5 if you want.
For part B it’s either E(b5) or Bb#11, depending on perspective.

But I agree that the piece is not essentially chord based. I would rather find scales that fit the notes for the bar and sound natural in conjunction with the previous and following one.
If you want to build chords then you can take them from the scales you found.

Thanks everyone. I was listening to the guitar solo a lot and Kurt Rosenwinkel just plays E Major through bars 1,2,5 and 6, C Major in the bars 3, 4, 7 and 8 and D minor in 9, 10 and 11.

I made a mistake in bar 12 though, there should a Bb7#11 and not a Bbm7b5.

Why not email Dario for a chart? Or to go over your transcription.

He’d be really happy to know people around the world are digging his music. I’ve enjoyed listening to his stuff for 10+ years.

Send him a link to this thread too.
I was assuming he'd be too busy to answer. Over the years I've tried to contact dozens of musicians regarding the music I've transcribed and I rarely get any response, even from those much less famous than Dario. Do you have his e-mail address?
