Hi, I'm pretty new to Bass and Talk bass. I've been lurking here and finally decided to see if you chaps would offer some advice/opinions.
A bit of background - I played bass for a year or 2 when I was a kid, 16/17, I hadn't touched a bass for about 40 years when I became friends with a guitarist from a band whose bass player was leaving and they asked me if I fancied giving it a bash. So apart from the terrifying prospect of learning their long setlist and having to play in front of an audience, I had to buy some gear. Like a guitar and an amp.
I did a fair bit of research looking for a reasonably priced bass which also played well. To cut a long story short I ended up buying two Sire Marcus Miller bass guitars a P7 with an ash body hard maple neck and maple fingerboard and a V7 alder body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. I have strung the V7 with La Bella flatwounds (the P7 has the stock strings). I would say I overall I prefer the sound of the V7.
Thanks for reading this far, here is the bit I need help with. I am suffering from GAS and have narrowed it down to either a Sandberg TM4 or VM4. I like the idea of owning something different from Fender and having read a lot of reviews the Sandbergs sound like just what I want.
However while reading some of the threads on here I was concerned about the differences between the Delano pickups on the TM4 and the Sandbergs on the VM4 some people say the Delanos are a more modern sound where I think I probably prefer an old school sound, given that overall I seem happier with the sound from my V7. Any thoughts and opinions gratefully received.
By the way the band play covers across a range of genres. From ACDC, Bowie, Marlyn Manson, Radiohead, Iggy Pop, even Cab Calloway. My amp is a Fender Rumble 500.
Thanks in advance
