Ibanez SR with ATK pickups?

I got a Ibanez ATK300 and I love it to death, but compared to other basses I wish it had different neck and woods.

So that got me curious, has anyone ever seen or modified like a let's say SR500 and put the ATK triple coil pickup in there for bridge, or anything like that?

I was thinking the same thing about my soundgear 406. It's nice to play but the pickups (and the acoustic sound to be honest) . The ATK pickup works for both 4 and 5 strings but I don't think it's gonna fit my six

Do any other Ibanez necks fit on the ATK? I have a 305, but I happen to love the neck.

As for the woods (the body is light ash?), other than being somewhat heavy (10lbs 12oz) I don't have a problem. :)

Please don’t butcher a perfectly good ATK :facepalm: get an aftermarket ATK-style pickup from BassCulture in Germany … and carve up SRs all you want …

I mostly kid, but seriously, I think you’ll have more luck putting a BassCulture pickup in a bass you want than you will trying to mash together ATKs and SRs and then trying to find buyers for the parts you don’t want.

No one’s butchering anything, I would just a buy the ATK pup, you see them here and there Ig from people that swapped theirs for something else (not sure why someone would do it but oh well).

I don’t think SR neck would fit, I got a pgb1l and I was gonna buy a sr500l before someone yoinked it, but still had a chance to try it in person. I believe the neck pocket or whatever you want to call it will is too big for the SR neck.

I'm not gonna butcher an ATK either. That's unthinkable.

I will check out this bass culture thing though and see if I can do it without routing my soundgear... I think I'd have to change the the pickup position anyway... Hmmm maybe I need to get someone to make me an ATK style bridge too......

Hmmmm… any specific reason why? With routing you would def need it, the triple coil is shaped differently compared to the soap bars SRs get

Mainly because I'd like a six string atk and they don't make those. I have this sr406 and it's not really worth selling. If I sold it I probably couldn't buy half of a better bass with the money. If I mod it I may be able to get it to have a sound I want. I'll wait a while. I've just joined a new band and am getting a new live rig so maybe I'll find a sound I can use from it with that first.
