Hi guys, so I changed my strings today on my SR500, and one of the tuning pegs broke so i start to look for some replacement and i think the best ones I've found were the Gotoh GB707 but I'm not sure if they will fit or i should drill other holes, anyone knows?
GOTOH GB707 Compact Bass Tuning Machines Tuners - Preconfigured Sets

And if you know other good replacements to make the SR500 super-great let me know please. I've been thinking about changing the preamp or the pickups.

Thank you very much!!!

Yes, the Gotoh GB707 will fit. In fact, it is the tuning machine that Ibanez uses on more Premium and Prestige basses.

One thing to notice, your SR500 is likely to have licensed Gotoh GB7 tuning machines. Changing the them to GB707 would gain some weight on your bass headstock, although it might not be noticable cause your bass uses only 4 tuning machines on the headstock.

From another post: a GB707 weighed 68 grams (with bushing and washer only, probably 69 grams if the screw was included) and a licensed GB7 weighed 57 grams (probably 58 grams for the whole set). So changing all 4 of your factory tuning machines to GB707s would gain 11 x 4 = 44 grams on your SR500 headstock. This might not be much. But, if your bass was a 5, 6 or 7 string bass, I'd suggest choosing Gotoh GB350 instead, which weighed only 40 grams a set, as an upgrade for the bass or when the stock tuning machines failed, although with a catch that a GB350 is quite expensive compared to other tuning machines.

Yes, the main differences is the weight. The GB350 is aimed more for reducing weight off the headstock. The quality of both are very good.

For some, it might not justify the price. But for players with extended range basses or any basses which suffered from neck dive, taking every gram off the headstock is highly valued.
