Ibanez talman tmb100 or Yamaha trbx174 as first bass?

Generic buying my first bass thread here. I really got into bass in music class and I'm finally going to get my own. As the title goes, which one would you go for? They both stand at the price of $199 or 199€ and I really like both of them.

Any alternatives?

And also, if i go for the Ibanez, would you wait the extra 3 weeks for the seller to restock the mahogany version of the bass or is poplar considered "equal" in quality. Ofc the tone will be a bit different but then again I have heard people call poplar the "poor man's alder". :/

Edit: Nope the Yamaha is now 224€

Quality of both Basses is about the same, but the Yamaha neck feels much wider than the Ibanez neck. Play them both if you can before deciding. If you are getting it as a gift, then a Lakland would be nice.

Definitely the TMB100, had the chance to test both of them and the Ibanez as an outstanding quality price ratio.
Plus is easy to set various action, even the lowest, not so obvious on other entry levels basses..
After I tested I got one for me to use with my students, the price is awesome.
I attached the short video review. Hope this helps.

Yamaha makes better basses in that price range IMO. Even at $25 more, the Yamaha is likely a better value.

I own a Talman 105, and it’s fit and finish, playability and electronics are barely acceptably. It’s a cool looking instrument, but I recommend a more serviceable bass. (I bought my Talman as a poject bass. I put a lot of work and cash into it to get it to where I want it.)
