I'm a tort junkie, but...

I honestly don't think CAR goes well with tort. Even vintage or Spitfire tort.

It just doesn't for me.

I know, I should turn in my membership card and pay the fine.

Now if the bass were done in Fiesta Red or Torino Red, I could see that work. Come to think of it, I don't see tort working well with any metallic finished with the exception of Burgundy Mist. Or perhaps Black metallic.

I dunno. Maybe it's because it's a Jazz? Maybe a P bass with its typically larger pickguard might offer more balance?

This is one of those rare basses where even a plain white pickguard would be an improvement. over this tort.

Thoughts?

I’m a tort junkie as well...have bought 3-4 guards from Spitfire. I totally agree...some colors just don’t need tort. Look at the custom shop Jazz basses for sale on Reverb. They have slapped tort on every color imaginable. Some are just awful...they would look so much better with white or mint.

I have an American Original LPB coming Monday. I bought a white 62 guard for it today to replace the tort coming on it.

To each their own, but I kinda like brown tort on CAR.
