Is Bassman 100T suitable for home use?

I’m looking to get a new tube Bassman head and a new 115 Cab (undecided which to go for). I kind of need the amp head to be suitable for small venues and also home use. Would the 100T be best for this due to the option to output @25W? Alternatively are there any others which would be a wiser choice? I’ve not actually played the new hybrid bassmans so if they are any good and would be more suitable then would love to hear what you guys think!

Hey thanks for the help, ... Struggling to find the wiki though.

The Bassman Club Wiki page is linked in my signature, at the bottom of my posts, along with some other Club Wikis.

While 25Watts is next to nothing once a drummer is present, It is more than plenty in the comfort of your living room. I've used a guitar head for some time. Set to a mere 5 watts, it would rattle the cupboards in the kitchen (two rooms down the hall). Set to its full potential of 18 watts and with twice the speakers connected, It was not even audible with a drummer and a guitar in the room.

The Bassman will be fine. IMO the best amp when you want a clean tone from your tube amp.

Yes.. The 100T is great at Low Volumes.. Warm and smooth.. Low volume practicing with a 15" cab will be possible as long as you face it away from the walls you don't want it projecting through.. The 15" will get louder the farther away you are from it..:thumbsup:

I usually practice at home through an Orange Terror Bass or an SVT-7 Pro. Yes, either could blow the windows (or maybe even walls) out of the house, but they don’t have to. Neither has a low-power mode.

OTOH, I have a Fender RAD bass amp (25 watts?) that can get too loud for living room use. It’s an ok practice amp, but even at really low volumes, the Orange and Ampeg sound better to my ears.

Since you're looking for a clean sound I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. And, at 25W you might be able to push the power section into OD and still keep a relatively low overall volume.

FWIW I use a Genzler Magellan 800 (pushing an 8 Ohm cab, so only running at 400W) for home practice most of the time and I have no problems with excessive volume.

Would the 100T be best for this due to the option to output @25W?

Aw heck, you could use any amp for home use. Well any amp with a volume knob. Now, that said, there are "some" tube amps that need the volume cranked to get "that tone", but really, if your just practicing at home or whatnot, any amp will do.

Choose the amp you wanna gig with, and you'll be fine. Just be aware, if your gonna be lugging the equipment in and out of your house, maybe want to take weight into consideration. these days though, most equipment is relatively lightweight.
