I love Brighton Audio products. I’m looking at the Broughton Audio P15. Does anyone have one, and what kind of sounds does it put out? I’m told the tone is similar to the Ampeg B15. what can you tell me about this DI box? Is it worth it?

I have a Broughton SSDI on my desk and I think it's great. The lunchbox pre's from Broughton are no slouches, but I barely ever take it out to gigs anymore due to the form factor. Pedal preamps get me 95% there tonewise and are easier to transport and setup.

A new box on the B-15 block is the Sushi Box Grand Slampegg. Also built with a 6SL7 tube and transformer DI out. You might want to check it out.

I'm happy with the sound of my P15 but the main circuit board that holds all the components developed an internal fault and needed to be replaced at cost of shipping both ways plus a couple hundred $$.

I'm pretty sure it's an isolated incident. I've never read of anyone else having issues with Broughtons build quality.

I am a very recent Sushi Box convert, and about a month ago bought the Finally DI and standard Slampegg. If I had known this was in the works I probably would have waited! Looks like a great piece of kit.

I use the Finally directly after my bass for a clean sound and the Slampegg in the HPF loop of my Tyler Deluxe so not sure this would accomplish the same thing without some head scratching, but I could honestly probably do 90% of what I ever need with this box alone.

P15. Nearly $700 for a preamp / DI that gives a B-15 sound? Seems like a lot of coin just for bass which will be heavily masked in a typical mix. I'd think other B-15 solutions could get you there for less $. But, I suppose it is cheaper than a typical bass or amp so maybe it isn't crazy in the grand scheme?
