Is it wrong to sticker your bass?

It is your bass, do what pleases you.
H

Yes. As in, it will always be YOUR bass.
After putting stickers on it you will likely ruin the finish and make it pretty much unsellable to a future buyer.

Unless your potential buyer also likes the exact bass you have in that color..

AND then add to that My little pony/ NASCAR/ Hello Kitty/ or 96.2 The Soft Rock Yacht Music station, For All Occasions! Or whatever stickers you put on.

If resale/ trading is not a consideration. Then go for it and do what makes you happy.

As it looks like, from your other thread, you are brand new to this and this would be your first bass. I would suggest you NOT do anything to the bass that will seriously decrease the value or potential re-sell potential.

If you practice and stay with it, then you are going to want to trade/ sell this to get something better.

If you try it and it does not work for you, you will probably want to sell this to get rid of it and get at least SOME of the money back.

Guidelines for Stickers on Guitar
Music genre you play determines acceptability

Metal: Only factory authorized skulls permitted

Folk music: No stickers unless it makes some socialist message

R&B/Funk: None. Authentic signatures OK, such as James Brown or Rick James

Classic Rock; Stickers OK but must be 2-3 decades past relevance

Alternative: Permitted but must have minimum of 5

Punk: Acceptable but must be anarchist in nature

Jazz: Never, placement of even one sticker will instantly cause your guitar to lose Mojo and your playing ability will be crippled

Polka: Schitkers? We don't need no stinking schitkers

My only issue with stickers is how they age, particularly when they start to lift, or tear after lifting.

So my next sticker bass is gonna start with an unfinished body, which I'll fill, prime, sticker then poly. Figure a few layers of poly ought to keep the corners down and the print intact.

Started collecting the stickers two tours ago, only problem now is the wife has the same idea for them, but she want's to redo the top of the basement bar with them. May have to tour more often...

I think it looks so cool!

One man's cool is another man's trash. I think stickers look ridiculous. I would never buy a bass that had a sticker on it. I didn't even do that in middle school. Luis resale. You can say you'll never sell it but you probably will. Then you need to find someone who likes the same stickers you do. You can take them off I suppose but there will probably be residue, fading, whatever.

Do what you want, but you asked.
