Is there an on-board preamp specifically designed to produce line-level output?

My ric 4003 has pretty low output, which causes some interfacing issues with other gear I have. I don't really want to use a separate di/preamp box, so I was wondering if installing a pre-amp on my bass like darkglass or bartolini preamps (or whatever brand). My goals are to have impedance matching and increased output level. Thanks in advance!

Depending on the design, an onboard preamp can give you boosted output from your bass. But I’m not aware of any onboard preamp that can deliver a line level output signal.

I know you said you don’t want to use an outboard boost. But the tiny Spark Mini Booster ($49) can provide 20dB of clean uncolored boost to your signal. That’s enough to overdrive the input of any instrument amp you’re ever likely to ever be using. And it’s far less complicated and expensive a solution than installing an onboard preamp.

If you’re talking about interfacing with recording gear, a DI or outboard preamp is probably still going to be your best option .

I'm not sure in terms of dB, what are you looking for?
I know a John East preamp can easily drive studio headphones like Senns or AKG. But that's not the same as line level. What are you going to use it for specifically?
