So I got a 2015 Fender American Standard precision. It has a chip in the lower horn that I want to fix. I searched around to find out what the name for the color of my bass is, the best I could come up with was Olympic White. I could not find another white in 2015 for the Fender American Standard. So, I ordered an Olympic White touch up pen from re-ranch. It does not seem to match. I filled it and clearcoated it (see pics). It has more of a darkish, blue kind of tint to it. I am open to any and all comments, including this one: "This jackass doesn't know what color his own bass is." That is fair comment.
But what I'm getting at is:
1. what is the name of the color for my bass?
2. If it is Olympic White as I thought, WTH with this pen I got?
3. Is there something I need to do to get the color to match?
Thanks as always for any help or useful comments.

Without custom mixing a color it may be hard to match your finish. It could be Olympic White and the ReRanch touchup pen could be Olympic white also. Different batches of the same color could end up slightly different even when new, maybe the guy who mixed the pigments was having a bad day. Add to that, even at only two years old the finish on your bass has aged and been exposed to varying amounts of UV light and bar smoke and who knows what else. Theoretically, a pro could mix up something to match but I’d bet, even for said pro it would take some experimentation to get a good match.

Try this one Arctic White
or this one Vintage Cream

I'm betting your bass is arctic white (no bluish hue) which is the first link.
This is what I get for not knowing the color of my own bass. Oh well.
But I do think it might be vintage white by their color charts on reranch. I guess I'll never know, because I already bought my first and last $17 paint pen.

Well, don't just blame yourself. I don't think Fender could be more confusing with their color charts if they tried! They don't seem to stick to the same colors, or names of colors for more than a few years at a time.

Filling chips/dings/etc to match is tough even when you have the same exact paint. I refinished a bass in Reranch Surf Green, then dinged it in an obvious place a couple years later. I had some spare paint left, so I painstakingly drop filled and clear coated the ding, but it still looks a bit different in color than the original job.
