It's been a long time coming......

Opinionated blowhard. But not mad about it.

This winter has been cold, wet, grey and LONG!

I stepped out onto my back porch this evening to grill some burgers and in the sunset I saw this..... A blooming tree. Man was THAT a welcome sight! It has been almost 80 degrees F here (27C) for a couple of days. And it looks like we have a couple more coming. I have never been so ready for flowers and grass in my life!

(Sorry for the crappy pic. My neighbor's yard, and this tree, is actually about 200-250 yards (180-200 meters) away and I had to zoom in with my phone camera.)

Any signs of life.....uh..... Spring where you are?

I will be sad as always to see the season end as I generally spend the entirety of the winter in bed, where I consume laudanum in copious amounts.

Once it warms outside, I put on the linen suit and summer at beach property. Pleasant enough, but truth be told, I miss the laudanum.

I haven't noticed much going on here in Queens, NY as far as plants blooming.

I have, however, been hearing a lot more birds singing, and later into the evening, since the sun is setting later and later.
We've had 70F degree weather. Woohoo!

I've got the same type of tree outside my front window, but it doesn't bloom like that until the first week of May. I always look forward to that--for me, it means that Summer is knockin' at the door!

I'm still in bed contemplating the fact that my workplace will likely lose power soon because we've had wind gusts in the 60s and there are more coming. I know I'll get the phone call but maybe if I cower here it won't happen.
