jazz bass wiring for a noob, help wanted & appreciated

Good day!

i've started a jazz bass build that more or less has spiraled out of control for me. I've never build anything, let alone soldered/wired a pot in my life. As of yet i have all the parts but now I have reached the point i need to figure out what sort of electronics i want. And i have no clue how what where when...

I have done some research and i think i have an idea as to what i want, but i'd like to know more before i go through with it. So far the idea is as follows:

- 2 concentric knobs (vol/vol) & (tone/tone)

as for the 3rd position i am thinking of a 3way pickup selector. How would that work and how would that affect the sound?

With 2 volume & tone knobs, would a blend and/or balance pot be useful?

lastly, I've read some use a switch for parallel & series connection? how would that work & affect the sound?

any help is appreciated! because at this point its boggling my mind, thank you

Aren't two concentric Jazz bass knobs usually set up as Volume/Tone & Volume/ Tone? My 62 Flea Jazz bass is set up that way. I really like that setup because you can dial in a separate tone for each pickup.

That could be an idea to try!

that only leaves me with what series/parallel does and how one would wire it. I am zero experience and feel like i have entered the deep end of the pool.
