Is joyo monomyth r-26 a DI box? I connect it to the interface with TS output, is XLR connection required to use DI feature?

i am completely beginner in recording in a daw. Thanks

The Joyo is similar to a Sansamp BDDI. You can connect either the XLR or 1/4” output to your audio interface. The XLR might be quieter, try both if you like.

It probably acts as a DI when the On switch is disengaged (the manual is not clear on this).

If you are after a DI with not preamp features (EQ, amp sim, etc.) you don’t need one, just plug your bass into your interface. Most interfaces have at least one input that can be set to a high impedance for connecting elctric guitars.

When I disable the on switch (battery is connected to the pedal) I get something like a ridiculous intermittent radio signal, beeep beeep beeep. When I activate the pedal it disappears

Which of the two outputs are you getting that noise from?

BTW, the output marked “Thru” is just the same signal as is present at the input, it’s not a DI output.

if you mean background noise, there is no background noise, I get sound from both XLR and Jack output

I was wondering if it was just jack-Dl output or not,

So the DI output is only with xlr?

No, the 1/4” jack and XLR carry the same signal, it’s not stereo.

For use as a DI you’d normally used the XLR because that’s what most mixers want to use and cables can be longer than 20 feet without getting noisy.

The 1/4” output would normally be used to send to a bass amp.

You wrote you were getting “a ridiculous intermittent radio signal, beeep beeep beeep” when you turned the effect off. What was the last effect pedal you used that did that? That’s what I was asking about, do you hear that noise from both outputs or not.

Ah sorry misunderstood

I hear it when I turn off the joyomonomyth di pedal, (battery connected) on both outputs.
