Just put on some TI Jazz Flats and they don't feel right...

Slapped on a set of these onto my Classic 50's Precision and set up the way I like it, but these strings just don't feel right. The low E feels massive compared to the other strings, like the other three are from a lighter gauge set, and the G feels like it's a higher tension than the E, A, & D strings. I guess it makes sense since my other bass is wearing Chromes where the A, D, & G strings are a bit fatter. I like the sound of the Jazz Flats, but the mis-match feeling between the E and the rest of the strings, and the higher tension of the G compared to the other strings just is throwing me off while playing.

TBF the jump from E to A is a bit more than normal, usually you're dropping .20 from E to A but with TIs it's .30.
I can't say I've noticed the higher tension on G but of course strings won't be the same on all basses. Possibly "set up the way I like it " is not the right set up for the strings.

My approach to set up is always a trade off between what the bass can do,what the strings need and what I like. It's never a "one size fits all" deal.

As far as I know, TI only makes one size of Jazz Flats. They do make sets for 35" scale but that is a length change only.

TI's do feel a bit different and very different from Chromes which are high tension. I think you will learn to love the TI's if you play them for a while and they last a very long time.

You're right. After a day or two they feel fine now and the Chromes don't feel as comfortable now. I'm keeping the TI Jazz Flats on the Classic 50's P and going to remove the Comes from the CIJ 70's P and pop on a set of GHS Boomers and see if I like a set of flats on one P and rounds on the other!

"More you play , more you love TiJF344."
For me, TiJF344 is very nice balance tension and comfort string stiffness in my fretting and plucking finger . The thick sounding G and Clear focus E string is a great thing which i dint found with others flat i been use before.
I put a set of GHS Pressurewound on my Cort Arona IV few weeks ago, every time i play this bass , i feel uncomfortable with my plucking finger after few songs. Even though the bass tone is nice, i still put it down and get my pbass instead.

Are you sure the nut saddle on the Low E isn't cut too high? That can sometimes give the impression of an off balance E. That said, I used TIJF's exclusively for years and after a long break from them, they felt pretty much as you describe. I tried to use them on my current bass several times with no luck. Funnily, my favorite bass to wear them was a Classic 50's Precision...I don't think I've liked them on another bass since.
