Keeley Bassist Compression knob, possible issue?

Really enjoying this pedal, but I'm wondering if there is an issue with the Compression knob. It is difficult to turn/adjust except toward 12 o'clock, where it loosens up considerably, almost too much. The Compression knob sits lower on its threads than the Threshold and Gain. . . Also noticed some metal dust at rehearsal this weekend.

This pedal was purchased new, so I'm wondering if it's best to contact Keeley or the retailer. Or is this something I can fix at home?

Have you tried loosening the set screw and adjusting the knob to be more inline with the others' heights? It sounds like the plastic knob is sitting too far down and too tight on the pot post, keeping it from physically turning as it should during certain parts of the rotation. Could explain the metal bits, too. I have this pedal and don't have this issue with it, but I have had something similar on other pedals. It's not a totally uncommon thing for Quality Control to miss.

Thanks for the response. I'm wondering if the pot post is stripped, because I loosened the set screw and can't get the plastic knob to adjust up and down on the post. It just spins, with difficulty.
