Lace Man O' War P pickup?

I'm looking to replace the stock pickup in my alder/maple/maple P bass.

I have a DiMarzio Split P in another bass of mine, and I enjoy the way it sounds, but I'm curious as to what else is out there. One of my favorite players is Nate Newton, who just released a signature set with Lace Sensor. Being that they're so new I know there won't be a review/demo for some time, so that lead me to seeing what the Man O' War set sounds like (assuming they're voiced similarly). The problem with that is I can't seem to find much about them in regards to demos or people who have them.

The videos I've seen sound ultra-bright and I'm curious if this is what I can expect as well.
I've heard nothing but great things about the Alumitones and MOW Jazz set.

Anyone have experience with these? Particularly I'd like to know how versatile they are as well. I know they're going to be a more modern interpretation, but I would like the ability to go back in time if ever I need to.

If you'd like (though it's been done ten million times here) feel free to recommend some of your other favorite P style pups!

Thanks so much!

Love the MOW jazz set. Warm and punchy with nice attack. MOW P not so much. Kind of bland and not enough dynamics.

I'm a fan of the Dimarzio Model P. Old school with grit.

I have the Model P in a second bass of mine. I like it a lot when it's strung with flats, but when I put round wounds on it, (to my ear) all of the low notes get muddied up.

In all seriousness, am I asking too much of a Precision pickup?

Not at all. Nothing wrong with pursuing the tone in your head.

I really like the vintage style alnico because they have a hollow tone that is highly compatible with overdrive. The problem I run into is that the longevity of any bite is so dependent upon the strings. I find myself desiring a bridge pickup to compensate.

The Model P is thick with a little grit all its own without OD. At a more standard pickup height they lack clarity, but it improves significantly if you burry it down low in the cavity.
