Although it's primarily aimed at classical players, I highly recommend Molly Gebrian's new book, Learn Faster, Perform Better -- A Musician's Guide to the Neuroscience of Practicing. It's a very accessible book with lots of great summaries of the research on learning that's relevant to musicians. It also has lots of great ways for us to increase the rate at which we learn and retain learning longer. I recommend it highly.
