I used rubbers for a while, but I hated having to take one off every time I wanted take my strap off the horn button. I wound up with Gotoh oversized buttons instead. It’s still a PITA to get the strap off, and on, but there’s nothing to misplace and I can use any strap I want. I’ve still got some Schaller straplocks on an old bass, but it’s just the one bass.
