Newcomer to the site here. Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on a recent purchase I’ve made.

It’s a left handed ‘Fender’ Jaguar bass (Japanese). Came across it randomly whilst checking the local free ads, wasn’t overly expensive and plays pretty well (although the active circuit creates a bit of noise) so pretty happy with it.

I’ve had a look around the net and there’s not a huge amount of info on them. The serial number suggests it was made between 2006-2008 which ties in with a couple of pages I have managed find. These say there was a left handed Japanese Jaguar bass (but not exported).

Anyway, not worried if it’s a copy, as i said before it plays pretty well and sounds alright. Just interested to know.

Cheers.

Color me jealous! There is plenty of info on how to properly ground the cavities together to help with the noise. Here's a pic of how someone here used copper tape to connect the cavities under the pickguard.

But He said the bass is active, I don't think copper would help with that as active pickups are usually pre shielded from factory.

Op u have a hell of a rare bass I have only ever seen one of those guys, it's red and white there are a few pics on the web of it.

Found a link to what is probably your exact bass

And here's is a photo of the red one.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were the only two made.

It's passive pickups with an active preamp. They actually shielded the cavities themselves but "forgot" that you have to tie them together at ground. Pretty dumb.

So jealous of you as I 've been looking for this so long but can't find it in left handed...
