Let me start by saying I love this bass. I really do - the feel, the tone, playability, and that B string...woof!
But I can't deal with the hum. So, opened her up and yep, no shielding.

How an almost $2K instrument leaves the factory this way (I got it at last years prices) is beyond me, but let's move forward and deal with the situation.

Ok, so I have my copper foil and will begin shielding this puppy.

My question is: How do I do a complete job? Do I need to shield the pickup routes? If so, how do I connect that shielding to the control cavity shielding? And then how do I connect the pots to the control cavity shielding? Is there special wire to do that? Don't want to go through the work only to find it still noisy.

Any tips appreciated!

What year was your bass made? I replaced the IC chip in my old L2K (purchased direct from the G&L Store) and it cleared up the hum it had.
I also did a minimal copper shielding tape job & this is how I “connected” the cavity ground to the cover:

EDIT: I see that the layouts / cavities aren’t the same but yeah maybe someone with an actual L2500 will chime in

My old L2500 came with shielding paint in the cavity. But when you have two humbuckers, there shouldn’t be any “hum”…that’s reserved for single coils.
Is the issue more of buzzing like from an incomplete ground, or radio interference?

My L2500 has hum only when in OMG-mode (it came factory wired for Parallel and OMG), which acts like Single-coil with the inherent noises. In Parallel, it is silent.
[however I recently modified OMG to Single Coil]
