I'm looking for a Fender J or P neck that's all maple, but the catch is it has to be lined. (I like lines on my fretless basses, sacrilege I know..). Does anyone know if such a thing exists? Have Fender ever made one?
As far as I know Fender never made such a thing. Warmoth can easily do it but I don't know how prohibitively expensive it would be to get it to the UK.

Thanks, I was looking at Warmoth, it's very tempting. The total cost to the uk including taxes and shipping would be about £430 (that's about $660US), perhaps a bit less if I go for a steel rod instead of graphite, but either way it's not cheap.. Worth it if I'm putting the 'dream bass' together I guess. The SX necks don't appeal quite so much (want to get as close to a real Fender as I can..) Then I'd have to budget for a decent Precision body, Custom 62 pickups, and hardware - it would probably come to the price of a brand new USA Fender.
I guess another option is just to buy a plain Fender maple neck and have lines added by a luthier, I wonder what the cost of that would be (probably more than a Warmoth import..).
