I gotta 'fess up. I ordered some tuners from Hipshot, accidentally pulled the trigger on lollipops instead of clovers. Hipshot and Oscar are great, no problem returning them. But I'm wondering what models/years of basses historically came with lollipops? TIA! FWIW, this is for my sorta-51 tele.

I think Tele and Jazz basses '66 - '68, maybe '69. Not sure they were used on P bass? I can tell you, I love 'em. Last build I did I used them.

62 or 64 (I think) P bass used them. Maybe a two year stretch where they were on the P. They were short lived there.
No. Some 67 and some early 68 P basses have them, but they were mostly found on 66 through early 68 Jazz Basses.
There were smaller versions on the Mustang Basses from 66 through early 68 and also the Coronado Basses from the same period.

One the first mods I wanted with my Sire V7 was the tuners and I decided to make my V7 a slight nod to my favorite bass of all time, the classic '66 Fender Jazz in candy apple red (which I will never be able to afford in my lifetime). The Hipshot lollipops turned out great and I really like the look of them over clovers, classy & sleek.

Fender started using them after CBS purchased the company. They used up the cloverleafs and lollipops started appearing on Jazz basses in '66.

By 68, they were already on the way out. I've never seen them on Precisions. They were used on Mustang basses, and I think that they might have been used on late 60s Tele basses, but not sure.

I put them on my '75 reissue CIJ/MIJ basses and on the modified Japanese Geddy which is my current #1. I just prefer the aesthetic. They're also standard issue on my 3 Devon fivers.

I like lollipops and none of my basses have historic cachet so I can put any tuners I want on them.

What I don't like are the sharp edges on the tuning keys of the USA Hipshot Ultralite lollipops.

The edge detailing is actually worse on the USA tuners than on Hipshot Licensed tuners made overseas.

Hopefully, someone hasn't been flooding the market with knockoffs of USA Ultralites and I'm not aware of it.
