You get one without neck dive you're golden.
I have a black one exactly like that one. I paid 200 bucks Cdn for it, it was very slightly used,
at Long and McQuade.

I LIKE mine. Very good tone (and mine has rounds on it right now). Plays great stock.

I had one once before that was red.....it had neck dive so I got rid of it.
It also sucked when I put Chrome flats on it.

BL in my occasional 60`s band brought one 7 - 8 months ago from the local GC, very lightly played gave $130 for it and it plays/sounds great. Can't help but think with a little shopping around you could find one at a bit better price.

Found several on Amazon and Ebay for $199 new with free shipping and several used for less. Might give you some leverage to work with if you particularly like that one.

They don't even cost $400 here in Australia. Unless you are in a really isolated area i'm sure you could get it for less.

In saying that, if you've actually been able to play it, it feels good, is balanced and you like it then I'd say snap it up. Great value bass even at that price.

I'm pretty sure I paid at or under $200 for mine new a few years ago. It's a nice little bass with a fast neck. My only complaint is the very anemic and pretty useless bridge pickup. The neck pup however sounds golden. There's a magnet hack on TB that supposedly fixes the problem. I just ended up dropping an active preamp in mine that has a gain pot for each pup, now they're balanced in volume and life is good.

I don't think I'd bother with that one at all.

He's asking $400 used, for a bass that costs $269.99 new in your area (see previous link).

Unless - you've agreed on $200, you've checked out and tried the bass, and you like it.

You talked him down but then said you have to think about it? Or you asked his best price and this was it? If you offered $200 and he accepted, its kinda late in the game to see what a good price is and if you should buy it.

He wanted 400$ for bass, strap, cord, gig bag, practice amp, stand...(none of which I need), so we settled on 200$ for bass (with no promise to buy until I try)...he's out of town until month end and I'm teetering on the fence...
Like most have said I could get a better price shopping around eBay and such...

Mine is not SS, but rather the 34". I know the SS version is also of the "slim C" profile, so, for me, and from that perspective, it's a keeper. I got mine basically because it thought it looked cool. It's turned into the bass I grab unless there's a specific reason not to.

From the pic, it sure looks nice, but I do agree that, unless there are circumstances not listed that makes this bass super special, $200 is what you pay for new. If what you are looking at is just the normal agathis body, rosewood fb, maple neck, you can buy from a major online music retailer and get to choose from different colors, get and get warranty for $200 free shipping.
