Looking for effects for this Smiths tone

My band just added this track from the Smiths with a prominent bass line that's fun to play.
The attack has a thwack to it. I can get 50 percent there just via plucking technique. What say you, pedalheads? I can play a P or a J for this one. Line 6 Helix at my disposal.

Pretty sure Andy Rourke played a P bass with a pick, tone rolled down and a hint of chorus.

A pick. Maybe that's the secret sauce. I don't usually play with one but I do play guitar with a pick, so maybe it won't be too difficult. Thanks!

Yea the pick is the biggest key to the Rourke sound. You'll never get it with fingers. There's really not much more to it than that.
