Hello, I was trying to track down my old bass. It is a Fender Jazz Bass Special that had an EMG P-bass pickup in the body and no J-bass pickup. It also had a pickguard so I am thinking that the bass just had a P-bass body on it maybe and a Jazz Bass Special neck. The neck had a black headstock and the back of neck was also black. The body of the bass was sort of a silvery-dark grey and the pickguard was originally black but had red and white paint misted (splattered) all over it. Finally, the frets had been removed and not filled in at the time it was sold. The fretboard was rosewood. It also had a Badass brand bridge on it. I sold it to a guy in Richmond, VA in approximately 1993 or so. I would love to find it again if you have it or have seen it. If I can find a photo of it I will post it. Thanks.

Good luck finding it. Bought an incredible 70's jazz there around 1989. Black, maple fretboard, no pickups. I was lucky to stumble upon a start-up pickup guy... Lindy Fralin. Had to sell that bass thousands of miles away. Good luck with your search.

I wish I could find the Fender '62 reissue Mary Kaye Jazz Bass I had bought in 1988. I sold it through Parkway Music in Clifton Park, NY around 1997. It was a great stack knob with gold hardware. I was advised to keep it by a guitar tech who told me that the neck was signed in pencil or something like that. I'm very happy with the American Original though, which is built just as nice.
