Hey all

I'm not planning on buying these this second but I want to save and write down which cab to go with for my main rig.

I been looking at a lot of different options and I am truly amazed how many smaller amps there really is.

So far I been really stuck and thinking of going with Barefaced (Super twin so far) or the Orange OBC112 (May also look into the 115) Price isn't the issue since this will be a goal but, it is nice to save up and have the best for a price in mind. I know Bareface also needs to make your cab so that will take time but I do not mind if it means getting quality. Phil Jones I love and if I had the money would get some but I find a lot of people have very mixed and conflicting views on them, I do love the C8 but IDK I am enjoying Bareface the most for smallest amps. I also saw a punk show with my friend and the bassist was using I believe OBC112 and I was amazed how loud he was, two guitarist playing loud overdriven with Marshalls and a loud drummer would a 22 inch kick I would say, and he was cutting through and it sounded good! Of course that place prob had a PA but he was in time and I felt he had some headroom I was in the front and heard it loud and clear!

Budget is open right now, I would like to stay within the 800 to 1500 USD, I mean know bareface is a-lot so I'm open to it, I just do not want someone dropping "get two of this cab" and its 3k in total.

So models I been really eyeing, also this is just cabs, not amp heads that is totally different worry and day right now,
Super Twin (Open to thoughts on other models from Barefaced)
Orange OBC112 (Probably will have to get two, also open to hearing info on OBC115)
I'm looking for info on these if you have experience with, love to hear it!

Some models I'm in the middle but will give a look - C8 Phil Jones, Trace Elliott ELF 1x10, Also looking at Markbass cabs, a lot to choose from so uhh open to hearing about some if you have some nice small cabs!

Also genres played: Blues, Hill-Country Blues, Indie, Shoegaze, almost anything...
I have no idea for future venues and stuff, most places have PAs but there is always that anxiety of no PA... I am bad overthinker forgive me please LOL, I somewhat accepted we'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Even though I do drive, I want to get a rig that basically if I had walk (using a cart of course, one of those fishing carts my dad and I used at the beach lol or for his work) or taking the train, metro etc. I probably will be driving mostly to places but you know it is nice on the back, even though I am 22 I sadly suffer from pelvic, back and other pains so would like to keep them OK for a gig lol.
Goal is to find something, a one size fits all type of rig, I don't mind stacking something like the Orange or hearing what Bareface like big baby may stack better or even if the C4 may stack. Again budget is open but would love if I could keep it in the 800 to 1500 lets say since a Super twin is roughly I believe 1500 USD alone. As always if you know a cheaper alternative similar to my goals please drop them below.

Have an amazing day, and week all! :bassist:

I'm lost as to your requirements. You're putting the Super Twin (2x12") in the same running as an OBC112/115 (1x12"/1x15"), but are considering smaller cabs (PJB C8, TE 110) as well? All are radically different sizes.

I haven't seen them in person, but the Barefaced 2x12 to be look much smaller and lighter than most 2x12. Guess I'm wrong but thought it was in the smaller cab park judging by some pictures have share on here. What Barefaced size wise would be most similar to the OBC112 then?

There is a fundamental 3 way tradeoff in acoustics - Loud (efficient), small, good low frequency extension. You get to pick two. If bass guitar cabinets were designed for good low frequency extension and efficiency, they wouldn't fit in your car.

You're asking for small and loud, which means you will give up good low frequency response - there is no way around that, it is what it is. The news (good or bad, depending on how you look at it) is that all commercially available bass guitar cabinets (with the exception of Acme) are designed for small and efficient, and give up low end. So, pick anything but Acme, and you're getting what you asked for.

At that price point there are a lot of choices, especially if you go used. I really like my Epifani UL cabs, but there are others like Bergantino and Mesa to name a few.

How small? Revsound makes a 2-8 that is fantastic for its size.

WOW! Those are small, I'm gonna do some listening and research on them for sure :D!
I appreciate that share.
I can't pinpoint an exact size, in my info above I have a wide range. I am mostly looking for something that in theory is small and loud enough but still can pack a punch.
The smallest I am considering is a OBC112 and all of the Barefaced products. PJ is also somewhat on board but I am still conflicted as on here and r/bass many have strong opposing opinions and I can't just settle on something that is still somewhat heated between opinions. I am considering the Big Baby from Barefaced as well but it seems may have to stack in louder groups.

So something that I could take on the LIRR if I had to (I'm probably moving to NJ or NC anyway in 2 years) but I still like something that small because my car is pretty tiny. Also light as well. Kind of conflicting I know but I guess I'm narrowing it down for myself.

If you have the money, get the Barefaced Super Twin. I don't think the other cabs you're considering are even in the same class. I recently bought a Phil Jones C4 and was very skeptical about getting it but I'm laughing at how BIG, clear and punchy this cab sounds for it's size!!! I'm planning on getting a Super Compact T in the near future.

what are you using for a bass and how is it tuned/what strings

I play a CV Jazz bass as my main, also own a CV P-bass but probably gonna sell it for a Rascal or Mustang, even Yamaha still finding what feels best for me. So far Rascal so may be short-scale. A mix of flats and rounds and tapes so everything, jazz is rounds right now and p is flats but chromes. :bag:

Rarely do any crazy tunings, maybe for a Kimbrough song or Burnside which are in 430 Hz here and there but rarely have to. Have no idea what my future of musical playing holds!

Cool. I only ask cause it is possible to have "loud" without "low" so be mindful that the small cab has the frequency response you need to get the low end you need.

Frankly, I like your idea of the Super Twin. It's way easier to move around than I anticipated. One cab does it all, and if the venue is smaller, just turn down the volume. Sounds great!!

Hey UkiahBass!

Thank you! Everyone has been helpful but this is an answer I been looking for. How are you liking your Super Twin? I mean yeah it can be "big" to some but honestly IMO from that picture I really think it is not bad to haul around, and the lightness adds to it! I have Barefaced at the very top of my list so far for sure, and I feel it is a one fits all so far! :D! :bassist:
