Hey all - I have a bass with Delano single coils and an Audere preamp, and I'm getting a lot of hiss when I favor either neck or the bridge pickup. When the pickups are blended 50/50, there is no hiss at all.

Any ideas? The bass is fully shielded, could it be a bad solder joint somewhere or a grounding issue?

Thank you!

Sounds like 60Hz hum. If so, that's the nature of the beast, with single coils.

When people use a word like "hiss" they're often talking about frequencies way up above 60Hz?

How low down in the bass range or up into the treble range does the hiss sound? Is it a consistent note, or staticky/noisy sounding?
