My psychedelic / Americana band Mama Tried headlined our town’s Friday’s After Five on Aug 2. Despite the odds the rain held off and we had a great turnout and even better time playing.
Here’s the crowd about half-way through the second set.
I am not as organized as Mr @BassCliff so no shots of the travel - I hustled out of work early on Friday to get to load in by 3. The venue is a 5 min walk from my office, but I had to walk over to the parking garage and get my car with all my gear. In the Friday rush it took almost 15 minutes to get parked backstage.
Here is our stage set:
Charlie’s boutique guitar rig, all-tube, natch:
Kent’s drumkit:
Sammy’s keys rig, and for the big venue he brought his Leslie cabinet. It really made his Nord sing:
My rig, trusty Streamliner 900 pushing a 15/6 fEARful cabinet, using my Warwick Streamer Stage I as my main bass:
My pedal board. The Cali 76 CB comp is brand new, and I am loving it:
The green room is nice at the Sprint/Ntelos Wireless Pavilion. All we get is some beer and water, no food in the hospitality.
Here is the band backstage and in the green room. First is Charlie on electric guitar and vocals, then the lovely and talented Susan on acoustic and vocals.
Sammy is a very talented musician, he kills it on piano and organ, also on harmonica, and he sings too - a triple threat! And our groove-monster drummer Kent with his son Bodie:
The crew did a fantastic job, I didn’t get a pic of Tim, FOH, but here are the monitor and stage guys, Slim on the left and Aaron on the right, hamming it up for the camera - such a joy working with these guys:
Here’s my amp selfie, I’m already wearing the bass, just about to start the show:
I felt good about this show and I had a very good time. Here’s some more shots of the crowd.
