I have a bass with Maple fingerboard, there is some wood...I do not even know if it is grain, but some people who have seen this bass said to me that if they had a bass like this one, they would not keep it. I am happy with it as I find that it is her "charm" and give her character, but as of simple curiosity, I would like to know how you would feel about a fingerboard looking like this:

Good for them.
Please stop worrying about other peoples' opinions.
Besides, they should be more careful about judging a stout piece of wood that could take out their teeth.

Nothing wrong with that. I’d rock it. It’s figured wood. It’s not quarter-sawn or torrified, both of which add cosmetic value only. There’s sone evidence that neither adds any resistance to warping or twisting, and in fact may be more prone to it.

I do not worrie, as I said, I like it as is.
I just wanted to know if there is a common feeling about those "imperfections" (I just dont know how to call it otherwise, because it doest look like mineral streak of sort, and as a French speaking person, my vocabulary is cut short there)
AH! My bad eyes saw "Lausanne, OH" not "CH."
