Marco Bass Pickups

The ones in my TFL probably won't fit a standard J

That are not normal shapes, nor will Marco sell them separately. They are amazing, though.

Yes, they are. I had a hunch this would not be possible. I had a chance to play his bass once when I was 17 at a convention in Puyallup WA, and again last year (9 years later) in Seattle. Both experiences had me leaving saying those are the best basses I have ever played. And I've owned and played some nice basses.

Anyone know if these are available for Jazz basses? Marco, if you see this, would be happy to hear from you!

Or are they exclusive to his basses he makes?

Marco doesn't hang on TB all that much, but he's very responsive on Facebook (Marco Bass Guitars Cortes). I was just at his place a few days ago and he has a lot of really cool new stuff in the works.

Sounds exciting. Marco is the man! I've only talked with him twice, but both times he left a great impression on me.

Hanging with him for a few days in his booth at NAMM this year was big fun. He'll probably be at the Seattle GTG again this time, he really loves that one.

And yeah, I'm working on getting one of his basses myself, hopefully before the GTG.

I have two of his Basses, on my PJ4 he custom wound them for me based on a couple sample recording and discussions, he totally nailed it. They are passive but have a very high output, the pick up plenty of nuances and just sit right in the mix, especially when you find the right strings.

You should get yourself a Macro Bass, there are no substitutions. Ive played many of them over 2 years at NAMM and now i own 2. Give him a call, hes a nice guy and will build you the Bass your hear and see in your head or you can go with one of his existing Basses, i bought a JJ5 that he had in stock, they Bass plays and sounds killer, most of them are light weight, the 5'er is under 8lbs and the 4 is about 8.5lbs.
