Dear all,

Can any of you help me out with info on Sire MM P7 bass I just got? I bought a brand new one, but I have doubts about the pickup balance. It seems like whatever mode the bass is in, the bridge (J) pickup is significantly lower in volume than the neck (P) pickup. I made a video showing the difference, it is located at this link:

I just played a bit with the height of the pickup and got the P magnet to a low point where the pickup volume balance is identical, but I guess this is not a permanent solution.

Has any of you encountered this kind of a problem? Is the pickup faulty, or are the guitars made just like that?

Thank you very much for your help!

I just got a p7 4 string, same issue, I adjusted the height of both pickups unit the sounded even. Mine was used,so it was all out of wack,e string was super loud g was barely audible.
I started by lowering both pickups on the e string side.the front pickup should roughly follow the radius of the fretboard, which it did not. The rear pickup was very high but sounded even with the front pickup, so I only lowered the bass or e side to even out the sound. Now it plays lovely!
I think that's why the previous owner was not happy with his p7,the d and g strings were significantly lower in output, while the e string was super loud! All it took was some adjustments with a screwdriver
Now everything is nice and even, his loss ,my gain.
Good luck!
