I have the Markbass CMD 121p; I want to get either the Ninja 2-12 cab or the Traveler 123 for large or outdoor gigs. I was leaning toward the Ninja, thinking it would push more low end, but am very intrigued by that Traveler 123--which I've only seen one review for, anywhere on the internet.

Since I have to buy without trying, I'm hoping to get some feedback before purchase.

Anyone own a Traveler 123?

I have the K1 which is the corresponding combo. The cab is amazing and plenty deep... PLENTY! In fact I've matched it up with a102p to tighten up the top end. You haven't said what kind of Music you play but I'll be amazed if the one 12" isn't enough. I'm guessing it will be lighter too.

Thanks for your comments, Trevor! I'm a freelancer; I do a really wide variety of music--pretty much anything other than metal.
I'd been using two Aguilar gs112 s, with a Genz Benz head....pleasantly surprised that the Markbass combo covers most of the gigs I do...don't even need my hand truck most of the time!

Ha ha, I use the hand truck for the K1 but it's way heavier than the 121. The 102p weighs nothing! Your old set up sounds great too but I find a lot of gear in the same class is never loud enough for some gigs or competes at the same frequencies as the guitars and cymbals instead of being that thick, sonic tank that blows in from underneath.

Just finished the rehearsal using the 102P cab for the first time. Easily the loudest guitarist I've ever played with(the people running the rehearsal rooms thought so too). And in the corner was the faithful old Ampeg. Had to try and A/B test. The Amped was great but the Markbass filled the room better. The guy in the foyer said my bass was making the plates on the drying rack shake in the kitchen!

Greetings, brothers-in-bass,
As crazy as it sounds, I still have no idea as to how well my 123 performs:
Summer in southern Arizona is like winter in other places: gigs slow down for a while (nobody goes anywhere in the daily 100+ degree heat)--I'm very lucky to have plenty of theater work.
Anyway...
The first time I took it out was to back a singer/songwriter; as soon as I got to the gig, I realized it was overkill, and had to put it aside.
The second and third times were outdoor jazz gigs--both got rained out--so we played inside the restaurant, in a tiny corner, minimal equipment.
The rest of my playing--usually about 5-6 performances per week--is in theaters, which supply an amp.
I'm afraid it'll probably be September 1 before I have any idea!
In the meantime, I must say, it LOOKS great sitting in the corner, under my combo!

If you haven't already made a purchase by then, hit me up and I'll share my opinion; on the other hand, if you have, maybe you can tell ME how it sounds!

Hi Low class, TrevorG , and anyone else still interested in the Markbass Traveler 123 cab,
Tonight is first time I've been able to crank it up enough to get a feel for it.
Powered by my Markbass CMD 121p, and playing a Reverend Mercalli 5, the sound was....the best I've ever heard out of anything that didn't weigh a couple hundred pounds....wonderful definition...even the B string--clear and thunderous!!! More volume than I'll probably ever need!...BTW: Gotta give props to the Mercalli, too...it's an amazing sounding bass...

I just scored a Traveler 123 to stack under my CMD 121p as well, the traveler 123 is to replace a Richard Bona 2x12 Ninja cabinet because I am looking for more mid/hi definition. Will report results when it ships!

It's worked well for me; I also combine it with a Quilter 800 head when I need to have setups in two locations.
You won't confuse it with an SVT rig, but it's been a long time since I've needed--or wanted--an 8-10 setup...
Look forward to hearing your assessment!

The difference is Night and day. The mids and highs are so capable and un thwarted by low end, my effects are so much clearer. I cant tell a sacrifice to the low end either. Not saying the 122 cab was shabby.. but almost incomparable. The 112 combo by itself probably couldnt push it too hard, but my signal gets pretty hot so I think it was put it to the test. A++

Glad you’re happy. I’ve tried a lot of the gear that’s in vogue now and despite my K1 being five years old I don’t feel left behind in any way. My rig still rocks the house without breaking my back. Very grateful.
