Mesa Engineering M9 Carbine: What other rack gear should I get?

Hello everyone, my second post. Long time lurker.

I'm using a Mesa Engineering M9 Carbine (which I LOVE, got it for $830 near mint on eBay) and I put it into a 4U portable rack (SKB 1SKB-R4U). I am using a 1U power conditioner and have another 1U available.

My question is, what do you guys recommend for adding into that last 1U rack space? A tuner? A SansAmp RBI or VT? I don't know if the M9 would even need something else. Should I get rid of the power conditioner and have 2 additional rack pieces?

Should I save my money and get a better cab (I'm using a Avatar B212 and a Ashdown Rootmaster 450W 4x10) or more pedals?

Thanks for your time! I've attached some pictures.

You should add what YOU need, not what WE think you need.

I don't know how the M9 carbine is vented. Are there vents on the top? If so, nothing should be above it for at least 1 space.

I have a power conditioner and a rack tuner. I used them solely for portability and efficiency with my rig. I set it on my cab, plug in my speaker cable, plug into power, and i'm ready to go. End of the gig is reverse and i'm off the stage with all of my gear before the guitarists are done disconnecting their cables. You don't need either, as an external power strip and an external rack tuner work equally as well. If you're running a pedal board, it can all be incorporated into that as well.

Again, use what's best for you, not what's best for us.

LOL. Never buy more rack than you need, GAS is strongest around unfilled rack spaces and unfilled guitar cases, particularly the latter.

Frankly, I wouldn't put anything else in, and frankly I wouldn't have bothered with the power conditioner either, but if you've mounted it already, little point to pulling it. Put a blanking plate over the empty space so as not to tease the GAS.

Thanks guys! Blubas: Yes, the M9 has ventilation on the top. I agree with the quickly setup and tear downs. I'm always done before everyone else! I do have a tuner on my pedal board.

tedious1: I agree man! I honestly don't need anything else to complicate my setup. The M9 has so many tones. I actually did mount a blank plate into the middle spot, above the M9. I should have just got a 2U rack...lol

I have a RANE PE17 Parametric EQ in with my M6 Carbine in an old Anvil 6U road case...but I just use my D-800+ now.

I really should try the Carbine with the Subway 112s...but then I'd be tempted to carry the rack "just for a while" because it just slams so. freaking. hard. That way lies madness...the rack probably weighs more than both cabinets combined...

Life is good...

I'm gigging a Mesa M-6 racked all by it's own self, no pedals
"To my ears" the Carbines don't need anything else but the bass plugged into them.

As to your maybe need another cabinet.
I've been working with two Avatar 210 Neo cabinets stacked as a vertical 410 for just at 9 years now....they've been/are GREAT!
I am considering a different cabinet now "just because", not that it's really needed.
The Avatars will probably be parked in the rehearsal space and used.
After playing for a lot of years one thing I've learnt is to NOT part with equipment I'm happy with....the Avatars stay!
If you like the cabinets you now have, hang on to them till your 100% sure the new cabs are what you'd hoped they would be.

If you want to stay in the Mesa family with new cabinets I'd suggest considering a couple or three of the Subway 115's.
You might drop "Al Kraft" a P.M.
He was kind enough to audition his M-6 through his Mesa Subway 115 cabinet and let me know what he thought of the pairing.
Sounded to me like it was a VERY, VERY good pairing.
Two of these cabinets are at the top of my new cabinet wish list....

Also Demo'd the Subway 115 with the M6. Great little cab. Thinking I will get a 115 and a 210 down the road, just for portability sake. Currently running a nv610

The Bergantino NV610T cabinet is in the number 2 spot on my new cabinet wish list.
Just wish there was a Berg stocking dealer somewhere/anywhere even close to me so I could hear a NV610T before buying....
