Hello fellow bassists. I wanted to get your opinions on my Sep '21 release, C'Est La Basse. https://distribute.avid.com/smartlink.cfm?MTAwMDAwMzg3MzAw

I started playing piano at age 6, taking lessons through grade school and began upright bass in Junior high at age 13. After attending an Art Blakey concert, I was hooked because it wasn’t only common for the bassist to solo, it was expected.

Like many of you, I performed with the high school jazz band, concert band and pit orchestras during school plays. In 1982, I received an audition with the US Air Force Band and was assigned to the 502d Air Force Band of the Gulf Coast in Biloxi, MS where I performed with groups of all styles, pop, jazz combo, big band, country and marching band (Tuba). I was also a rehearsal director, arranger and recording engineer.

Following my years with the group, I went on to a 35 year career in Aerospace. COVID triggered a disruption in that career and drove me back to playing, writing and recording.

The album "C’Est La Basse" is the result of that work and is available on all major digital platforms. Other than percussion and some virtual keyboards, all instruments are basses. I used my Upright, 4, 5, 6, 8 string solid bodies, (2) 5 string acoustic bass guitars and my fretless electric.

Track #3 on the album, "The Currency of Urgency" was selected as a semi-finalist in the 2021 International Songwriting Competition. Even more fun than that, Alexa can find me :)

Thanks for your kind attention. Mike
