Michael Anthony vs Wolfgang Van Halen

This is an older subject, but does anyone really like wolfgang as a bassist? To be honest, I believe they only fired Anthony as an excuse to hire Eddie's son. In my opinion, Anthony is better and always will be. I believe the stories that Eddie had to teach him how to play is a load of BS. But this is open to discussion. You guys put in your two cents.

Nope. He plays guitar, no doubt, but he's primarily a bass player.

To answer the OP, they are two very different bassists. Wolfgang is a very good musician, and his style is more influenced by the times. Michael is a great fundamental bassist, but can be flashy when he wants.

Haven’t really heard him playing much. Does he sing all the back ups and stuff Michael used to do? Cause that man can sing.

I thought he was primarily a guitarist. He plays guitar in his solo stuff and when he was doing a band with the guitarist from Creed.
