This is a rather good interview with Michael League that gets into some of the thinking of one of the more interesting and innovative musicians on the music scene. In it he gets into some of his own philosophy and approaches to things as well as providing good insight on how Snarky Puppy operates - plus some updates on what Mike's label groundUPmusicNYC is doing to expand and adapt the notion of a label to the modern world. And he just might have come up with something that solves the problem about how to get decent compensation for the content creators without getting into the increasingly crazy restrictions the traditional music labels keep trying to impose on the listeners.
This interview is nice because Mitch Gallagher of Sweetwater allows his interviewees to talk without inserting himself into the dialog more than is necessary. He's a welcome relief from most interviewers doing these sorts of interviews today. (I'm thinking Bollinger over at Premier Guitar who can't seem to shut up whenever he's doing an "interview.")
