I was wondering if the TB community would know where I could find current painters or sculptors that do work in a older style, but of modern subjects?
The few times I've been able to go to a real art museum, I was blown away by pre-impressionist paintings of landscapes, artistic renderings of myths or biblical scenes, and portraits. I also loved Renaissance bust sculptures that looked so real I though they were going to start talking to me.
I would love to find modern art in those old styles, but think it would be even cooler if the subjects were contemporary.
Do such things exist?
Most "modern art" doesn't do anything for me. I prefer photo realistic execution over things you have to decipher.

That's a good question. I've had to just find it where I can find it. I don't know if there's one particular source.
When did a google search I couldn't really find anything.
I didn't know if this was already a "thing" with a name I'm not familiar with, or if there was a known artist someone could point me towards, and I could use that as a jump off point.

If someone isn't doing this, I think they are missing the boat. Unless I'm the only one that thinks this would be cool.
Too much of "modern art" can't just be what it is. It has to be obtuse, cheeky, or trying to convey something other than a depiction of a subject. I'm just not into that.

There’s a ton- general searches on modern realists will usually pull up a ton.
