I'm now up to six different short scales! They range in price range from $200 to almost $2000. I love modding the Squier Jags, though. I modified the headstock on this one and then replaced the stock tuners with Hipshot ultralites. The weight went from 8 lbs 2oz down to 7lbs 8 oz!
I've got 9 volt active EMG PU's. It puts out some serious low end now!

Looks great! I own a silver Jaguar Short Scale myself and actually ordered EMG PJ sets two days ago!
I ordered both the EMG passive PJHZ (for practically drop-in replacement) set and the 'standard' EMG active PJ set.
It appears the passive set almost certainly has a golden logo and I really don't want to break the black/silver/chrome look of the guitar. So for good measure, I ordered both...

Likely will put a Hipshot Kickass bridge on it as well, but am still not sure what to do with the tuners...
Hipshot HB7's are only available in Nickel, which can give a different hue of reflection compared to the chrome ones that are on there standard... (Yes, slightly OCD on this one ;))
Or maybe some chrome Ultralite lollipops or Y Keys might give an interesting look towards the headstock...

Have any pictures of the active EMG set installed? Do you have any pointers on the installation of these pups?

What's the black metal plate in back of the headstock for?
Zen G! Somehow I never saw your entry until today and so, I never answered you about the strip on the back.
My father is a retired electrical engineer. He cut a lightweight strip of metal and somehow “ionized”it. When you put it snug under the tuners, it really increased the resonance of the strings. I have no idea how he did it, other than it requires (expensive)special equipment.
