Mods? - Tariff Discussion?

Hi, please close or move if not appropriate. In the last few days, I've noticed that tariffs in the US have come up in a number of threads and wanted to see if there was mod insight into how appropriate it was to discuss tariffs?

I could see it both ways as the fact that tariffs can greatly affect prices for US consumers (who like myself make a large portion of this forum), and price changes would be largely apolitical, but at the same time, there is a heavy political slant to person proposing the tariffs and their rationale for them, so I thought it best to seek a mod's guidance here.
